The almost full snow moon brightly illuminated our landscape, the shadows of the trees so perfect on the smooth surface of the snow. It was a fantastic experience just being out away from civilization, out in the wilderness. I explained how the northern lights are created and some folk law and beliefs about the northern lights, while we watched the sky for signs of the auroras. Just a feint display but something to give hope of more to come. We introduced our visitors to our shaman traditions, whatever was to come they now had a story to take home with them. Just after we had completed this, we again returned to sky watching, only to be rewarded with the appearance of the northern lights. We hurried to get those oh so important pictures of our visitors with the northern lights behind them. Team work and smiles was all it took. What a night to share with our guests!
