The twilight faded to reveal 3 bands of very pale northern lights across the sky, as we stood watching and waiting a fireball burned up right in the piece of sky we were all watching. Wow what a start to our sky gazing, the trail of bright white sparks swirling behind it were for that short moment so beautiful. The northern lights brightened a little then faded but they were there the whole time, we photographed the brighter moments, the occasional tall pillar of light reaching up into space. But then as we were about to leave the northern lights turned on and we got exactly what we had been waiting for, tall pillars of lights wandering along the band of the northern lights almost above us. And on the return journey we stopped to watch another brighter burst of activity, such beautiful photographs taken tonight.
