24th of December – Christmas Eve

Scandinavian type breakfast buffet in the hotel.

Board the waiting coach for a ride to Kukkolankoski one of the biggest free rapids in Europe. This impressive rapid is the largest in river Tornio which is also the border between Finland and Sweden. Here we can make very special nature pictures and admire the power of the nature on frozen river banks. We enjoy our lunch in a romantic restaurant just on the shore.

If you like some relaxing spend time in sauna in your hotel before enjoying the Christmas celebration buffet including Finnish and international specialities. For the evening meal we go outside of the town into a Christmassy lodge in the forest.

This festive Christmas dinner includes many traditional Finnish and international Christmas delicacies. By old Finnish tradition Santa Claus comes to the dining room after the dinner. Santa brings a gift to all guests, adults and children alike.  We may freely take pictures with Santa indoors and outdoors with the snow.

After the Christmas dinner we join Lapland Welcome’s legendary Northern Lights trip nearby. With some luck you may witness this unique natural phenomenon. Overnight in the hotel in Kemi.

25th of December – Christmas Day
Ice Breaker Cruise

After the breakast we get straight into the action with a 3-hour burst onto the frozen sea. Experience the ship breaking ice and take a swim in the frigid cold ocean water.

The three-hour Icebreaker Sampo cruise is great for those who want to focus on the arctic icebreaking adventure.

Our staff will give a concise presentation of the ship.

Admire the beauty of vast open ice fields as the huge vessel breaks the ice.

Try floating amongst the ice of the frigid cold sea! You’ll be warm and safe inside a special survival suit.

Cruise guests get free entrance to the Kemi SnowCastle on the cruise date after the cruise.

26th of December

After the breakfast we check out and leave the Lappish harbour town Kemi with luggage and proceed to the husky farm. At the farm we learn about the huskies and may go for a one-hour husky sleigh ride in the snowy forests. This is one of the high lights on the Christmas tour.

At noon we leave the farm and drive to the Arctic Circle and Santa Claus village. We receive Arctic Circle crossing certficate and meet Santa again in his office. Afterwards we go for a lunch and visit also Santa’s Post Office.

Santa village at the Arctic Circle is the best place for shopping souvenirs and experience the Christmas atmosphere. We will have time enough before checking in the hotel in Rovaniemi – Scandic Pohjanhovi ****, which is the oldest and biggest hotel in Rovaniemi.

Buffet dinner in hotel restaurant viewing river Kemi – the biggest river in Finland and all frozen.

27th of December

Today after the breakfast we jump on snowmobiles and sleighs and drive to the reindeer farm. At the farm we learn about reindeer and may go for a 500 meters reindeer sleigh ride. Modern snowmobiles are comfortable to drive and sit. During this tour we see lots of snowy forests and enjoy lunch in a traditional Lappish teepee.

Sauna and pool in the hotel. Buffet dinner in hotel restaurant with the river view.

28th of December

This is our last day in Lapland which we spend in Ranua Wildlife Park.

There are about 50 different wild animal species and 200 different individuals at the Ranua Wildlife Park. All the animals live within spacious fencing along the 2,8 km Park trail in the middle of the surrounding forest wilderness. In the winter you can visit the Husky Park and in the summer the Domestic Animal Park also.

Most of the trail is built on wooden footbridges and duckboards, and is easy to travel providing an unhampered view into the animal fencings. In the winter you may like to have a sled to help travelling with the children, in the summer pushchairs are available. Pushchairs and sleds are for rent at the ticket office. The Ranua Wildlife Park aims for multi-sensory experiences: with the help of the audio guide and the experience checkpoints along the trail you will use all your senses while exploring the Park.

Lunch is offered in the park’s cozy restaurant.

Sauna and pool in the hotel. Buffet dinner in hotel restaurant with the river view.

Option: Did you see the Northern Lights already? If not or if you want to see more join our tour again and see the lights! We have got the best site for following the lights in Rovaniemi!
