Christmas in Rovaniemi – Santa’s Home Town in the Arctic Circle 23rd – 27th of December 2024

December 23rd  ARRIVAL TO THE ARCTIC CIRCLE AND ROVANIEMI

This is the arrival day to Rovaniemi, the Arctic Circle. The Christmas guide will meet you at the airport and bring you to our safari office and collect the winter gear you will need for your stay. Half board dinner is offered in your hotel.

December 24th   CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Eve is an important day in Finland as Santa visits all families in the evening and brings presents.

We start with a trip to reindeer farm. First we meet there reindeer herders wearing typical Lapp dresses. Then the herders organize us a reindeer sleigh ride in the snowy forests. Then we enter a large tepee with fire inside. Light lunch is offered at the farm. We also decorate a real Christmas tree at this authentic site and enjoy a nice day at the farm.

In the evening traditional Finnish Christmas buffet will be catered in authentic Christmas atmosphere. After the dinner Santa will visit us. This is worth seeing! Santa will give each person a little present. Psst… if you want you can arrange some more presents with the safari guide.

December 25th   CHRISTMAS DAY

It is Christmas morning! Why not having a morning walk outdoors and admiring the snowy views.

Visit the Santa Claus Village program starts at 11:00. First there is a sight seeing in Rovaniemi that ends up to Santa Claus’ Village at the Arctic Circle. Then we cross the Arctic Circle and get certificates of crossing. Next we will meet Santa Claus in his lodge. There is a possibility to buy a picture or a video with Santa. This is also the best place for shopping souvenirs and handicrafts.

Afterwards we have and opportunity to fill and send cards in Santa’s Post Office. Only here you get a special Arctic Circle postmark on your cards. It is also possible to try all activities in Santa village yourself. Santa’s village is the biggest tourist attraction in Lapland an unique site in the world. Lunch by your own in one of the restaurants or sandwiches and warm beveraged with the guide.

In the evening after the Christmas dinner in your hotel we participate Lapland Welcome’s legendary Northern Lights program. With some luck you can admire this unique natural phenomenon. Living fire in a teepee keeps you warm and you will experience some Finnish shamanism, too.

Decemebr 26th   BOXING DAY

Boxing day in Lapland is traditionally day for having fun and riding all kind of sleighs.

First we have a transfer to the husky farm where we meet and greet all happy huskies and owners. Then we have an opportunity to participate on their husky safari program in the snowy forest.

After the lunch break we have a briefing for snowmobile driving. Great safari is organized in snowy wilderness forest. You may drive yourself or sit as passenger. Small children sit safely in sleighs pulled by guide’s snowmobile.

December 27th   DEPARTURE DAY

It is time to thank you for this Christmas. Breakfast and transfer to the airport is included. Good bye Lapland!
