It was misty in town and all the way down the river valley as we headed out into the wilderness, but at our first checking spot the stars were shining very brightly but no northern lights. We stopped and checked at our second spot and there we got our first sighting of the northern lights, just a pale arc of light but nice to practice photography on. Once at our location and all the cameras were set up we watched the pale northern lights, their brightness increasing and then fading again. Soon the glow of the fire was drawing us in, we had seen a few shooting stars while watching the sky. No sooner were we inside a quick check of the sky revealed the northern lights were taking the chance to dance across the sky while we were not looking, sneaky things they are. So we were all straight out to watch, what pictures we got and again I had a shooting star cut across the northern lights while the shutter was open, yes once again I caught it.
