Equinox magic 22.09.2019

Tonight as the sky darkened and the last colours of sunset fading away, we waited for our first sighting of the northern lights. The moon rose slowly, bright reddish orange as it came above the horizon. Just little hints of activity to start with, the fireside was an attractive option after a while. Then the first chance to see pillars of light forming, just pale for a moment before fading again but quite beautiful through the camera. Then the whole arc of the northern lights became visible, some patches brighter and taller than others and again so beautiful and colourful through the camera. This display just kept moving and the ripples of brightness moved along the arc, a real moving target. The last burst of brightness before the lights faded was even more colourful, with golden swirls below the arc of green red and pink. And on the return journey we had to stop again for the brightest display of the night, wow what an added extra this was a real grande finale. As for the magic, well you would have to have been there to know what this is about, for some a new life begins.
