Winter Week in Katkavaara – Seeking Aurora Borealis 2022 – 2023 (Kemi)

MONDAY  (All starting days are possible)

Your guide fetches you fom the airport. Transfer to the safari office where you get the winter adventure gear for the entire week. Transfer to the hotel Kätkävaara Aurora Apartments and Snow Igloos. Half board dinner is offered at 7-9 PM. Overnight in Aurora Apartments.

TUESDAY

Snowshoe trip for searching arctic animals. Breakfast buffet. The week starts by a beautiful trip up the hill for great views. We try to find wild animals and their footprints. Lunch by open fire in a tepee on the summit. You will see an impressive view over Lapland from the watching tower. After the tour try traditional wood heated sauna and enjoy the half board dinner. Northern Lights trip in the evening.

WEDNESDAY

Ice fishing and photographing. Enjoy the nature on snowshoes and see impressive frozen lakes, ponds and forests. Relaxing tour and peaceful nature. Lunch in a wooden teepee. Sauna and half board dinner. Northern Lights trip in the evening.

THURSDAY

Trip to Arctic Circle, Santa Claus village and Santa’s reindeer. Visit a husky farm and 5 km sleigh ride.  Breakfast buffet. Today we head to the Arctic Circle where we visit a husky farm and enjoy their 5 km husky ride. We cross the Arctic Circle and receive certificates of crossing. We meet Santa and may buy a picture with him. Good place for shopping. We meet the reindeer herders and enjoy a short reindeer sleigh ride. Lunch in Santa village. Sauna. Half board dinner and Northern Lights trip in the evening.

FRIDAY

Snowmobile safari. Breakfast buffet. Today you may try driving a snowmobile. You will see larger this area from a snowmobile. Sauna. Half board dinner and Northern Lights trip in the evening.

Overnight in a snow igloo. This program is included in December – April.

SATURDAY

Optional programs. Breakfast buffet. It is possible to book different safaris by additional price or just enjoy the nature. Half board dinner and Northern Lights trip on foot in the evening. For this day you can book by additional price for example Ice Breaker cruise, Skiing, Building a Snow Igloo, Snow Adventure Day, …

SUNDAY

Breakfast buffet and transfer to the airport. Good bye snowy Lapland!

INCLUDING

Accommodation, breakfasts, light lunches and half board dinners, sauna daily. All local transfers, trips, and special winter gear (overalls, hats, helmet underwear, socks, boots and gloves). The trips are arranged daily after the breakfast and they last 5-6 hours. An English speaking guide.  Accommodation in Hotel Kätkävaara Aurora apartments and Snow Igloos. For people who like to stay in the wilderness trying different activities and following the Northern Lights.
