Adventure Safari to the Ice Sea 2023

Welcome to the longest snowmobile safari in Europe!

This safari is available for adults only as solo driving safari.

We have a guaranteed start on the 11th of March 2023 in Rovaniemi. If you are a small or bigger group (min 4) you can ask whichever starting day.

SUNDAY Arrival Day  

Transfer from Rovaniemi Airport. Settle into your accommodation in a nice hotel in Rovaniemi city.

MONDAY 

After breakfast you will be adviced to snowmobile safety and driving. On our first driving day we will drive across endless taiga forests already reaching Sodankylä – one of the biggest villages in Lapland. In the evening you have a chance to walk in this old village and meet local people there. Sodankyla is also famous for their observatory and the science of Northern Lights. Dinner buffet and overnight in a hotel.

TUESDAY

After breakfast we begin our second day of driving, which brings us further north across huge natural swamps finally reaching Saariselka fells and reach the hotel where we will stay overnight. Saariselka is a part of Urho Kekkonen’s national park and is one of the best trekking areas in Europe. Buffet dinner and overnight stay in a nice hotel will be provided.

WEDNESDAY

After breakfast we continue our great safari across the landscape, taking in the views of the fell, which leads us up to Inari lake. Inari is also called “Lapp sea”. By old mythology it is told to be as deep as long. It is over 100 km long. Lunch in Inari. We cross the lake partly still heading north and reaching old Lapp village Kaamanen in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in a lodge or cottages will be provided. Good place for meeting local Lapps.

THURSDAY

Today we continue our safari soon reaching the treeless tundra region. At this stage of the journey we are very north of Lapland that there are no proper trees left. This magical area is maybe the most important reindeer herding area in Finland. We finally reach the village of Nuorgam in the afternoon. Nuorgam is the most northern village in European Union. You will have an opportunity to experience a Finnish sauna and have your dinner in the holiday village. Overnight stay in the cottages. This is a great place for admiring the Northern Lights. Nuorgam is situated on the shore of river Tana – It is the best salmon river in Europe, situated on the border of Finland and Norway.

FRIDAY

After breakfast we cross the river and enter Norway with a local guide. During this day we finally reach the Ice Sea. The Ice Sea is open year around . Breath taking views during the day, great opportunity to take fantastic pictures.

Option:  Crab fishing on a fishing boat, should be booked early in advance.

SATURDAY

This is our last and longest driving day. After the breakfast we drive back south crossing numerous fells and lake Inari. We then finally reach the village of Ivalo in the late afternoon. The driving distance is about 200 km. Try the Finnish Sauna in the hotel and enjoy the last dinner. Overnight stay in the hotel is included.

SUNDAY

Transfer to the airport, either Ivalo or Rovaniemi.

Offered only in March and early April! Experience the greatest snowmobile safari in Lapland! Driving distance is over 1000 km. We use the best possible snowmobiles on this tour.

Full board accommodation in twin rooms or cottages, light lunches and dinners are also included. Local transfers, special winter gear (overalls, hats, helmets, socks, boots, gloves etc.) and English guiding included as well. Solo driving snowmobiles.
