To the Edge of Europe

Long and most demanding safari to the most northern part of Europe!

ARRIVAL DAY

Arrival in Ivalo airport. Transfer to the hotel in Saariselka. Receiving winter adventure clothing and other adventure equipment. Buffet dinner. Briefing.

THE SECOND DAY

Breakfast in the hotel. We start driving from Saariselka. During the day we drive down on Ivalo river, pass Ivalo village and cross Inari lake. This is the biggest lake in Lapland and by old mythology as deep as long.  We see numerous islands and endless ice field. We enjoy the lunch in a hut and after passing Sevettijarvi, home to the original Kolt Lapps, we arrive to Kaldoaivi wilderness area. We see numerous fells and lakes and impressive endless tundra on our way. Finally we arrive to the valley of river Tana. River Tana is the best salmon river in Europe for wild Atlantic salmon. We enjoy sauna and accommodation in Nuorgam, the most northern village in European Union. Driving distance is about 250 km.

THE THIRD DAY 

Breakfast. The safari continues to Norwegian mountains. We cross a large highland area folowing ancient paths finally reaching the Barents Sea. Driving upslopes and downslopes in treeless area in a very demanding climate we finally arive to Mehamn, one of the most northern villages in Norway.

In Mehamd we stay the night, relax in sauna and enjoy proper meals and good accommodation. We follow the sky in case of northern lights.

THE FOURTH DAY

Breakfast. Today we head back to Finland over the highland and impressive views. We reach Nuorgam and enjoy sauna and good meal in this small border village by river Tana. We follow the sky in case of northern lights. Overnight.

THE FIFTH DAY

Breakfast. Today the challenge is long driving distance across the fells and crossing lake Inari from north. Lots of impressive sites and lunch on the way. If the weather is good we choose another longer track on our way back to Saariselka. The driving distance is 250 – 300 km today.

Finally we reach Saariselka and stay the last night in a good hotel. Dinner with our guide.

THE SIXTH DAY

Breakfast and transfer to Ivalo airport.

INCLUDING

Snowmobiling gear; Helmet, snowmobiling suit, shoes, gloves. Snowmobile rental and fuel, motor vehicle insurance, organiser’s liability insurance. Guide services, services in English. Accommodation in cottages and hotels like in the program, breakfasts and dinners at the places of accommodation, snacks on the tracks. Local transfers. Accommodation, all meals and professional guiding. Only private starts available for small groups.
