We spent the whole night under a perfect dark clear sky, the crescent moon set during the safari. The pale arc of the northern lights offered hope and we did not have too long to wait. The fireside had proved popular on this cool night, the alarm raised the firesides were abandoned for a view of tall pillars of northern lights moving across the sky. What a display we had and as the northern lights lost brightness the fireside drew our visitors back around them, the northern lights were though gathering up their strength. Just before we were about to pack up and set off back to town the northern lights began to brighten again, and this time they really put on a show, by now half the sky was filled with northern lights, what a display we got and finally we could leave the hill top and return to town.
