Moose tracks and northern lights. 11-09-24
On our way out into the wilderness tonight we spotted fresh tracks from
some larger animal along the road, stopping to check it turned out to be
2 moose having walked about 100m along the road before going back into
the forest. The surprise was the shear size of one of the sets of
tracks, enormous! What a sight these animals would have been if only we
had spotted them. The clear sky we started with became full cloud cover,
but we had some time around the fire and kept a look out. A few stars
revealed some clear sky, very soon we were there staring through a huge
hole in the cloud with pale northern lights crossing the clear sky. As
we watched the lights brightened and began to dance for us, there really
is no substitute for local knowledge and good old fashioned luck
