The journey out was under cloudy skies, but stars started to appear as we arrived to our base camp.By the time we got to the hill top the sky was open and full of stars, the moon setting in the south western sky. The northern lights were very pale for a while, but we got our first burst of activity after a while. While we waited for another chance we gazed at the milky way as it was so bright and clear then gathered around the fire.
After food and drinks were done we headed out as things were once again picking up in the northern lights department. We got a good look at them this time, and very beautiful they were in photographs. The northern lights faded and we headed for home, but not without disturbance. As we left the base camp the northern lights began to brighten and dance across the sky, we hurried to a spot where we could see the whole arc of light, what a sight it was the best of the night. The northern lights danced for us in a now very dark clear sky, what an end to the trip.
