Although the northern lights were playing hide and seek behind the cloud, short bursts of bright green light flaring up through the thin holes in the cloud cover. The holes in the cloud grew bigger and then shrank again several times, but the northern lights kept us outside hoping and watching. Then the cloud simply thinned and left the sky, and we waited but not for long. The whole sky lit up, a huge wall of light pillars dancing no longer green but bright orange-red, so much light. Wow, so much better than we hoped for, the almost full moon was no match for the peak of the display, out shone by the northern lights over Lapland.
