The bright half moon in a clear sky welcomed us to our viewing location, the snow covered trees and landscape looking magical in the moonlight. And sure enough, it was not long before the arc of the northern lights crept across the sky, just pale to start with. It brightened and faded a few times as time passed, but then the sky was full of green shapes, moving restlessly around. Wow, what a treat for those who braved this cold night! The cameras were busy, while others stared and enjoyed the spectacle.
