We made our way out into the wilderness under a cloudy sky but with high
hopes. While I explained the creation of the northern lights we watched
the sky for any signs of activity, and sure enough we spotted the first
bright patches of light from behind the cloud. The cameras revealed the
sky was now green, brightened by the northern lights. I left the clients
to watch the sky while I prepared the fire, but soon there was an
interruption to my duties by one of our guests reporting that there was
more light in the sky now. Yes indeed the show was on! We watched as the
northern lights brightened and also moved south quite fast, holes
opening in the cloud allowing us to see the northern lights and a few
stars. Wow what a sight, the show carried on all evening but the sky
had one surprise more for us. Just as we were about to pack up and leave
the cloud just vanished leaving us standing under a wide band of
northern lights in a clear starry sky. What a show we got to end our
safari, simply beautiful.
